Twitter analysis: These politicians are most often associated with corruption, fraud and the like
Corrupt, corruptible and fraudulent: At least since the mask affair in the Bundestag During the corona pandemic, criticism of politicians on the internet is getting louder. But which politicians are most often accused of corruption or lying? And what are the most common allegations online? We found that out for you and analyzed more than 400,000 tweets.
The result: Chancellor Angela Merkel, with 59,000 tweets, is the politician most associated with corruption, lies or the like on the Internet . It is followed by SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach with 47,000 tweets, who was a frequent guest on talk shows during the pandemic and had to listen to a lot of criticism for his statements. The first candidate for chancellor is in third place: CDU politician Armin Laschet is particularly often associated with the terms “corruption” and “incompetent” online (30,000 tweets).

While Laschet is mentioned most frequently among the chancellor candidates When it comes to corruption, lies and the like, SPD candidate Olaf Scholz is also far ahead in fifth place with around 23,000 tweets. AfD chairwoman Alice Weidel is also in the upper middle field (21,600 tweets). Annalena Baerbock, Chancellor candidate from Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, and FDP leader Christian Lindner, on the other hand, are mentioned less frequently (18,500 tweets each). Tags
